Find our first review of YouTube's Creator Studio App here.YouTube recently unveiled a new update to their Creator Studio app for smartphones, and they’ve included a ton of useful analytics in the latest version 1.5.12. In many ways, the analytics in the latest version of Creator Studio may be a more useful dashboard than the YouTube Analytics section found in your online dashboard. Let’s take a look at what’s been added:
The Creator Studio app previously showed you key metrics like your total number of views, minutes watched, subscribers, and estimated earnings. While all of that information is still available, the Analytics Overview tab now also shows you the percentage of views that come from subscribers, the percentage of likes vs dislikes on your videos, a list of your most viewed videos from the past 28 days, and the realtime view count on your 5 most recently published videos.Knowing how many of your views are coming from subscribers is a great way to see how well you’re doing at convincing viewers to subscribe. It’s important to always give viewers a reason to subscribe to your channel, and if you see that most of your traffic is coming from viewers that have not yet subscribed to your channel then you may want to include more calls-to-action prompting viewers to click the subscribe button. Seeing the ratio of likes and dislikes will help you understand how your audience is reacting to your recent video content, and the realtime view count is the best way to track the performance of videos within the first 24-48 hours of release.
In addition to showing your total estimated earnings and number of monetized playbacks, the Earnings tab now shows you the percentage of revenue you earn from each different ad type on YouTube. You can also see the total estimated earnings for your top 5 earning videos, as well as a list of the top 5 countries with the highest CPMs. This can help you identify the ad formats that are contributing the most revenue to your monthly payments, as well as which countries are paying top dollar to advertise on your video content.
The Discovery tab will show you exactly what percentage of your traffic comes from YouTube’s search results, YouTube’s suggest videos, external sites, playlists, and more. You’ll also see a detailed breakdown of which 3rd party sites drive the most traffic to your videos, as well as which search terms people use to find your videos. Finally, you can see which of your playlists are most successful in enticing viewers to watch multiple videos from your channel.
In the Audience section of Creator Studio’s Analytics you’ll see how many of your viewers are male and female, as well as a breakdown of your audience’s age range. You also can easily see which countries provide the largest percentages of your audience.
In this section, you’ll find out exactly what percentage of your audience clicks on the annotations and cards you include in your video content. This is useful if you are using cards or annotations to link to additional video content on your channel or a website where you are selling additional products to your audience.
Playlists are becoming increasingly important on YouTube, and they are a great tool to help introduce your viewers to more of the great content on your channel. In the Creator Studios Playlist tab, you’ll see the number of times playlists were viewed, the number of views your playlists collected, the average time viewers spend watching your playlists, and a list of your most viewed playlists over the past month. Once you have that information, you can easily see which of your playlists are providing the most benefits to your channel so that you can continue to create new playlists that will engage your audience and entice viewers to check out more of your videos.
