Premiering a video on YouTube allows you to schedule a new video upload and promote the video with a shareable watch page. Similar to a movie or TV show premiere, this will allow channels to experience a new video together with their viewers.

Before the premiere starts, a public watch page is created where the video will actually premiere. Subscribers to the channel (who have opted in to receiving notifications) will receive a notification 30 minutes before the video premieres, and another notification when the video starts. During the premiere of the video, creators can interact with the audience in comments, live chat, and if enabled, Super Chat. After the premiere is over, the video will stay on the channel as a regular video upload. Chat replay will be available for anyone as well and creators can choose to disable chat at any time.

To premiere a video, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on Upload  at the top of the page, or visit youtube.com/upload.
  2. Select Scheduled in the dropdown. Note that selecting Public will prompt the premiere to start immediately after the video is done uploading. Unlisted videos cannot be premiered.
  3. Select the video you’d like to upload from your computer.
  4. On the next page, toggle on Premiere.
  5. Select the date and time of your premiere.
  6. When the video is done processing, click “Premiere” in the top right hand corner.
