YouTube's Biggest Updates of The Year!

YouTube's Biggest Updates of The Year!

YouTube just dropped a ton of new features, almost more than we can cover in one post. These were unveiled at the ‘Made On YouTube: 2025’ event, which introduced exciting tools that will shape not only how creators use the platform in the coming months, but its direction for years to come.

Let’s break down some of the most interesting updates here. As more details roll out, we’ll keep you updated on everything you need to know.

Collaborators

Up to 5 creators can now be added as collaborators on a video, allowing cross-posting similar to what you might be used to on Instagram. This makes it easier than ever to create content collaboratively, as cross-posts are recommended to the audiences of all participating creators.

One channel will serve as the host of the content (think the main poster) and will retain sole ownership of views and AdSense revenue.

A/B Titles

Last year, YouTube introduced A/B testing for thumbnails. Now, they’re expanding the feature with the ability to test titles as well. Creators will be able to experiment with up to three packaging options per video, while still keeping the simplicity of YouTube’s A/B testing system.

Automatic Clips & Shorts

Creating podcast clips (aka segments) and Shorts can be time-consuming. To help, YouTube is rolling out automatic clips & Shorts powered by Google Gemini. Gemini AI will identify what it believes to be the most “viral-worthy” moments and automatically transform them into Shorts and clips, ready to publish instantly to your channel.

Ask Studio

We’ve all had moments of confusion while digging through analytics or searching for the right page in YouTube Studio. To make things easier, YouTube is launching Ask Studio, an AI-powered chatbot designed to simplify analytics.

For example, you could ask: “Which of my last 10 videos had the highest click-through rate?” and Ask Studio will quickly analyze your data and provide an easy to understand answer.

Dynamic Brand Segments

Sponsored content is getting a major upgrade. Until now, sponsored segments had to be baked directly into your video file. With Dynamic Brand Segments, you’ll be able to import, replace, or remove sponsored portions of your video even after it’s published.

Think of it like YouTube mid-roll ad placements but for your own sponsored content.

Cross-Format Streaming

Horizontal live streaming has already been a game-changer, with streams now discoverable in the Shorts feed, making it easier for new viewers to tune in. But until now, creators had to choose between streaming horizontally or vertically.

With Cross-Format Streaming, you can now do both at the same time. Your stream will appear in both the standard YouTube live player (horizontal) and the Shorts Live feed (vertical).

Livestream Shorts

After ending a livestream, creators will now receive AI-powered highlights generated by Gemini. These highlights are automatically packaged as Shorts, giving you instant content to publish right after your stream.

Alongside these, YouTube also announced over 30 more livestreaming updates, including side-by-side ads (so viewers can keep watching your stream during ad breaks without interruption) and new members-only settings, like members-only VODs. We’ll break down all the livestreaming updates in a future post.

It’s been a long time since YouTube announced this many updates back to back, and we’re excited to see how creators put them into action. We’ll be keeping a close eye on everything rolling out and will share our best tips & tricks as we learn more.
