Facebook has announced some important news regarding Reels and Music Videos. As short-form vertical content continues to perform exceedingly well across all platforms, we see these platforms take the initiative to benefit and persuade users to create more. Whether it be YouTube’s Short Fund or the new features that continue to roll out on Instagram and Facebook, everyone is putting their best foot forward.
This week, Facebook has announced that they’ve been testing a new feature that automatically generates 15-30 second Facebook Reels with the release of any new Premium Music Video (“PMV”), which includes music videos delivered to Facebook by official partners like Quarterlab. Additionally, they’ve stated within their testing of 25 Reels they’ve seen 2X+ increases in click-through rates.
Those click-through rates are from the three call-to-actions which will are enabled on these auto-generated Facebook Reels:
• Watch: Watch the full video
• Try It: Create a Reel with the song/track
• Remix: Remix with the Reel
With the success of these tests, Facebook is planning on launching this feature to more accounts starting June 3rd.
Although these are auto-generated, you do have the option to stop these Reels from automatically being created and posted. A Page Admin can opt-out within the FB Page Settings. Navigate to General Settings >> Music Video section >> toggle on or off “share new music videos to Reels.
