After a lot of speculation in the media over the past few months, YouTube has officially announced they're introducing a new music streaming service called YouTube Music. The service will become available next week on May 22nd and YouTube has recently provided some new details on the new streaming service. YouTube Music will include an organized and personalized library of: official songs, albums, thousands of playlists and artist radio, remixes, live performances, covers and music videos. The service will be available as a mobile app and a desktop player. Fans will have some interesting features available in YouTube Music to search for and discover new music. Similar to the current search engine that Google and YouTube uses, YouTube Music search will let fans find new songs even if they don’t know the exact artist or song title. For example, people will be able to search for songs from just typing in song lyrics, or describing how the song sounds like “that hipster song with the whistling." Each user will have a personalized home screen which provides recommendations for new music based on their listening history, where they are, and what they’re doing. There are two options for using the service: a free ad-supported version and a paid membership version for $9.99 a month. The paid version will give you background listening, the ability to download content, and an ad-free experience. In addition to YouTube Music, YouTube is rebranding (and repricing) it's current subscription product YouTube Red. Red will now be called YouTube Premium which includes the aforementioned features of YouTube Music, but also provides access to all YouTube Original series (including shows like the new Cobra Kai hit series). If you already subscribe to Google Play Music, you get a YouTube Music Premium membership as part of your subscription each month. YouTube Music will be rolling out on Tuesday May 22nd in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea. The service will also soon be launching in Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
