Today we are looking at one of the biggest video sharing platforms in the world, Dailymotion. With 3.5 billion monthly views (1.5B in EU/Middle East/Africa, 1.4B in Asia, 600MM in NA), it’s the 3rd largest video platform behind Google/YouTube and Facebook (above Hulu & Netflix). 15% of that audience being exclusive to Dailymotion (i.e. not on YouTube).

Background and Accessibility

Dailymotion is a free-to-user online video platform that was founded in France in 2005. The platform is available all around the world, in 18 different languages and 35 localized versions featuring local home pages and local content. There is an app available for iOS and Android mobile systems, as well as an app for Playstation4 (with a focus on gaming content).

Monetization

Users of Dailymotion can monetize their video content via ads (for which Dailymotion keeps 50%), on-demand rental, and monthly subscriptions (for which Dailymotion only keeps 30%). Users can run ad campaigns to promote their videos and track earned revenue and video performance. Users are also able to embed Dailymotion videos or the Dailymotion widget on their websites to earn additional revenue.

Features

Dailymotion offers many features and has some interesting customization options available to users. One such feature is its Logo Overlay feature, which allows users to add a logo to their video player to integrate your own branding.
