YouTube has recently announced two new features for podcasts on the platform. The first new feature lets creators create new podcast playlists for their channel, or designate existing playlists as a podcast playlist. The second new feature is podcast specific analytics. If you have a podcast that you publish on YouTube, you can now create specific podcast playlists and designate your current playlists as podcast playlists. Doing so will grant your podcast on YouTube access to specific podcast features, which we'll cover in more detail below.
First, let’s go over how to create a podcast playlist or designate one of your current playlists as a podcast playlist:
1) Go to YouTube Studio, click Create and then New podcast.
2) From the pop-up, select Create a new podcast.
3) Select Set an existing playlist as a podcast if you’d like to turn an existing playlist into a podcast.
4) Enter your podcast details, including: Podcast title, description, visibility, image (required).
5) Click Create to save.
Once you’ve created your podcast, you can add video episodes by uploading new or existing videos to your podcast.
Now, let’s dive into the specific features and benefits your podcast content gets access to on YouTube:
-Promotional carousels
-Podcast destination page
-Podcast specific search results
-The option to be featured on youtube.com/podcasts
-Badges on your podcasts and videos
-Your podcast will be available to YouTube Music users
The second feature launched to podcasters on YouTube is Podcast Analytics. These are podcast specific analytics, different than normal YouTube analytics. Some of these new metrics are:
-Aggregated metrics across videos in a podcast playlist
-Insights on how viewers find your podcast
-Demographic analytics
-Revenue analytics
