YouTube has slowly been rolling out a new monetization option for channels called YouTube Sponsorships. Continue reading for more details on this new way to earn money on YouTube.
YouTube sponsorships allow viewers to support channels with a monthly subscription of $4.99. Fans can also purchase digital goods directly from channels. When you become a sponsor of a channel, you get access to various exclusive content and rewards.
This new source of income can be especially valuable for channel’s that live stream often and have fans that engage in comments and live chats. One of the exclusive rewards that sponsors get is a custom badge for live chat. These badges and emoji are designed by the channel and the channel’s fans. These badges will make the viewer stand out in the channel’s live chats.
As a channel sponsor, you will be able to get access to exclusive live chat streams with the creator and other channel sponsors. Channels will also be able to set up additional rewards and exclusive content for sponsors through 3rd-party services.
Sponsorships were previously only available for gaming channels, but will soon be made available to select musicians and other creators on YouTube. If your channel is eligible you can enable the feature at youtube.com/features. You can also submit a request form to ask to get your channel enabled for sponsorships on YouTube. Let us know if you have any questions on sponsorships, and we will continue to provide you with updates as this feature becomes available platform wide.
